According to FIBA, Nigeria recorded 58 rebounds in their commanding 101–84 victory over the Philippines on March 14 in Lyon-Villeurbanne, France, setting a new all-time record for the most rebounds in a single game in the tournament’s history.
The impressive display of physical dominance on the boards played a crucial role in Nigeria’s emphatic win as the African champions controlled both ends of the court.
However, Nigeria’s record did not stand alone for long as Canada equalled the mark just hours later, also grabbing 58 rebounds in their dominant 75–41 win against Argentina in Istanbul, Türkiye during the same qualifying window.
Canada’s rebounding effort was largely powered by forward Aaliyah Edwards, who pulled down 15 rebounds to lead her side’s record-setting night.
