Double Glory For Nigeria: SSA Adeboye Celebrates Super Falcons’ WAFCON Triumph, Armwrestling Victory From His Role As Championship LOC Chairman

It was a night of remarkable double triumph for Nigeria as the country celebrated two continental victories — and Hon. Adeboye Anthony Adeyinka (Zulu Authority), Senior Special Assistant to President Tinubu on Grassroots Sports Development and Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee for the 14th African Armwrestling Championship, offered resounding praise to Team Nigeria.

While Adeboye was anchored in Abuja overseeing an extraordinary armwrestling tournament — where Nigeria dominated with 28 gold, 35 silver, and 38 bronze medals with 833 points in the both Left & Right -Hand category — he followed live the thrilling WAFCON 2024 final in Rabat, where the Super Falcons pulled off an extraordinary comeback.

Trailing 2–0 in the first half behind goals from Morocco’s Ghizlane Chebbak and Sanaa Mssoudy, Nigeria staged a stunning turnaround, with Esther Okoronkwo converting a penalty and providing two assists, and substitute Jennifer Echegini netting the dramatic 88th‑minute winner to seal a 3–2 victory and secure Nigeria’s record 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title .

In a heartfelt message, Adeboye expressed overwhelming pride:

“Nigeria has truly shown its strength — with champions in armwrestling and champions in football on the same night. This is more than sport; it’s a testament to our national spirit, our resilience, and our unity.”

He saluted the Falcons’ tenacity and drive:

“To our Super Falcons: you reminded the world what Nigerian grit looks like. Down 2–0, you rose. You fought. And you conquered. Mission X is complete — the trophy is yours.”

At the armwrestling front, Adeboye also celebrated Team Nigeria’s performance on home soil:

“Our armwrestlers have showcased African strength, passion, and unity. As LOC Chairman, I have seen firsthand your preparation and spirit — you’ve done Nigeria proud and set a new standard for strength sports.”

Aisecutively, Adeboye pledged continued support for both disciplines:

“To all Nigerians — join me in celebrating these teams. They are our ambassadors. Let’s cheer them at every event, support them financially and emotionally, and ensure they get the recognition they deserve. The government has opened the door; now it’s our turn to walk in and build greatness together.”

These historic wins reflect the impact of the Renewed Hope Agenda, which places youth development and grassroots sports at the center of national ambition.

Indeed, July 26, 2025, will be remembered as Nigeria’s Double Victory Weekend—a showcase of heritage, harmony, and hope.
