He admitted that the victory was a personal delight for him and collective joy for his team, but admitted further that the visitors gave Smart City a good fight.
Obiajulu recounted, “It was a good game, and they came out with strong intentions to play hard against us, but I’m happy that we won.
“We played at home, and we gave everything to win the game. We followed the gameplan of our coach, and that’s what worked for us.”
The fixcture’s man of the match then brushed aside complaints by some of the home fans that he missed many chances before eventually scoring Smart City’s second goal, pointing out instead that it normally happens in a tough game.
The smooth-talking centre-forward added, “Missing chances is part of football. When you miss chances, you don’t allow it to worry your head.
“You have to keep going and keep on trying. Other chances will still come. You just have to try your best to bury them when they come the next time.”
Obiajulu then spoke about Smart Ciry’s main target for the season and declared that all the players are focused on the club’s vision of gaining promotion to the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL).
The enterprising attacker concluded, “Right from the start of this season, our target has been to gain promotion. So, we are all working towards it.
“We are still in a very good position to gain that promotion spot. God willing, and with hard work, we’ll get it. We’ll keep on working hard and, by God’s grace, we are going to get there.
“My personal target is to keep scoring, keep assisting and keep helping the team to achieve our promotion ambition. Hopefully, after this season, I’ll be able to move to a better place for my football career.”
