Dikko Assures Super Falcons, D’Tigress Of Imminent Presidential Rewards

Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Mallam Shehu Dikko, has confirmed that the promised presidential rewards and honours for Nigeria’s Super Falcons and D’Tigress are in the final stages of processing.

Dikko revealed that relevant government agencies are currently handling the paperwork to ensure that both teams receive the benefits pledged to them after their historic tournament victories.

“We are at the final stage of the process,” Dikko said. “The agencies responsible for the allocations are already doing the necessary paperwork, and very soon every player and official will get exactly what was promised.”

The Super Falcons recently won the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), while D’Tigress emerged champions of the FIBA Women’s AfroBasket, drawing praise from President Bola Tinubu, who assured both teams of special recognition.

Dikko explained that the government was determined to honour its word. “It is important that we show appreciation to our athletes when they make the country proud,” he stated. “These women have brought glory to Nigeria, and the rewards are not just about money, they are about recognition and motivation for future successes.”

The sports administrator added that fulfilling such promises helps to build trust between athletes and the authorities. “Once players see that their sacrifices are valued and honoured, they give even more for the nation,” he said.

Fans and stakeholders have been eagerly awaiting news on the rewards, with many urging the government to avoid delays that have marred similar situations in the past. Dikko assured that this time will be different. “I can confidently say this is almost done. In a short while, the Falcons and D’Tigress will be smiling,” he concluded.
