In a show of commitment and strategic foresight, the National Sports Commission (NSC) has reaffirmed Nigeria’s full participation in the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia from November 7 to 21, 2025.
NSC Director General, Hon. Bukola Olopade, is currently in Riyadh attending a high-level two-day seminar as the Chef de Mission for Team Nigeria.
The seminar, which gathers key representatives from all 57 participating countries, is designed to brief nations on updated guidelines and operational frameworks ahead of the prestigious multi-sport event.
Olopade’s presence in Saudi Arabia follows his recent coordination of the successful 22nd National Sports Festival in Ogun State — a demonstration of Nigeria’s growing sporting momentum.
His involvement in the preparatory seminar underscores Nigeria’s intent not only to participate but to excel, with a well-prepared team ready to uphold national pride on an international stage.
“The Islamic Solidarity Games represent more than just competition. They are about unity, humanity, and cultural celebration,” said Olopade. “Nigeria is proud to be part of that vision, and we’re preparing to showcase both our sporting talent and our values.”
The 2025 edition marks the return of the Islamic Games to Saudi soil after two decades, promising a grander scale and heightened camaraderie among member nations. For Nigeria, it is an opportunity to discover new athletic talent, deepen international sporting ties, and reaffirm its place in global sports diplomacy.
As preparations intensify, Team Nigeria’s roadmap to Riyadh is shaping up as a bold statement of national readiness and continental pride.
