Dennerby To Monitor Cameroon, Norway Friendly

Nigeria’s female national team, Super Falcons’ coach, Thomas Dennerby is st to monitor the upcoming international friendly between Cameroon and one of his side’s Group A opponents at this year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup, Norway, sports247.ng reports.

The Grasshoppers of Norway will take on Nigeria’s Falcons in their first group clash of this year’s Female Mundial in Reims, France, such that the Scandinavians want to get a feel of African style from Cameroon.

Similarly, Dennerby is set to keep an eye on the clash, which will come on June 2 in Franconville, France only six days before Nigeria and Norway go head-to-head for the first time in senior women football history.

Hosts of the upcoming friendly, French Football Federation (FFF) disclosed that Norway will face Cameroon in the warm-up game on June 2, and the body’s vice-president, Brigitte Henriques added during a symposium in Taverny, France on women’s football that it would also accord them some insights into various aspects of receiving the world this summer.

For Norway coach, Martin Sjögren, it would be his first match as manager against African opposition and he will hope to use the test game to wrap up their World Cup preparations.

Sjogren’s ladies, who continued their build-up at the Algarve Cup in Spain, will hope to make a winning start against the African champions to boost their chances of reaching the knockout stages.

Norway last met an African female side at the 2015 Women’s World Cup in Canada, where they defeated Cote d’Ivoire 3-1 at the group stage.

On Cameroon’s part, the clash will be a big chance to assess themselves against a European opponent as well, as they will battle Holland in their second group game on June 15 in Valenciennes, France.
