Fortuna Hjorring of Denmark female team’s top striker, Joy Omewa Ogochukwu has disclosed that she hopes to be part of Nigeria’s squad to next year’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON 2026) and win it with the Super Falcons.
Sports247 reports that Omewa, who was born in Osun State and will be 23 years old on December 1st, recently made history when she was voted as player of the season in the Danish Women’s Football League, which she joined in 2021.

It was another feather added to the fast-growing cap of the former under-17 and under-20 International, who has scored 48 goals in 81 appearances for her club, with high prospects of adding more.
Omewa, who previously played for Osun Babes of Osogbo, Confluence Queens of Lokoja, and B93 of Orstebro, believes she can now make her mark with the Super Falcons, for which she recently got her debut against Benin Republic.
However, while confessing that she wants to get her first WAFCON gold medal and then play at the FIFA Women’s World Cup, Omewa admitted that there are several top attackers she has to tussle with in the Nigerian female national team.
Omewa noted: “We have really talented strikers in this team, and it’s going to be a lot of hard work to put myself into the squad. But, there’s no challenge that I can’t face.
“So, I want to be there when we try to win the WAFCON again, which would be my first with the team. After that, I’ll hope to be with them at the World Cup for the first time.”
