The chairman of Delta State Sports Commission, Honourable Onoriode Oborevwori has issued a firm promise that Nigerians will see one of the best organised finals of the President Federation Cup this sweekend at Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.
Sports247 reports that Oborevwori added ahead of Saturday’s clash between El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri and Ikorodu City of Lagos, that Delta State will use the experience gained from hosting previous major events to make the best of the upcoming game in their capital.
The sports commission chairman also assured football fans and stakeholders that Delta State is fully prepared to stage this weekend’s final in Asaba, which he declared has established itself as ‘the home of sports in Nigeria,’ having successfully hosted several major national sporting events over the years.
He affirmed that the stage is set for an exciting weekend of football, as the arena named in honour of former Super Eagles’ defender, captain and coach, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi will host the male and female finals of Nigeria’s oldest domestic football competition.
Oborevwori affirmed, “The Stephen Keshi Stadium has hosted some of the country’s biggest sporting events, including National Sports Festival, National Youth Games and the Nigeria National League (NNL) Super 8.
“(It has also hosted ) previous Federation Cup finals and many other prestigious competitions. We are confident that football stakeholders from across Nigeria will witness one of the best-organized President Federation Cup finals this weekend.”
Sports247 reports further that Ikorodu City will aim for their first ever men’s national title when they face three-time FA Cup winners, El-Kanemi Warriors, while Heartland Queens of Owerri will aim for an upset of sort when they go out against cup favourites Nasarawa Amazons of Lafia in the women’s final.
