The championship is scheduled to kick off today in Akure, Ondo State.

The decision to pull out of the competition was primarily attributed to the club’s inability to secure the necessary funding to cover their participation costs in the championship.

This unfortunate development highlights the ongoing financial challenges faced by sports teams, even at the highest levels in the country.

Despite Delta Force’s exit from the competition, several formidable teams remain in the Atlantic Conference’s Final Eight. This championship serves as a crucial stage in determining the qualifiers from the Atlantic Conference who will advance to the national finals.

The teams set to compete in this championship include Nigeria’s four-time champions, Rivers Hoopers, Lagos Legends, and Police Batons, all of whom secured their spots during the initial phase held in Asaba.

Additionally, Kwara Falcons, Ebun Comets, Hoops and Read, and Oluyole Warriors from the Ibadan zone will vie for the top spots.

The journey to this stage involved a total of 12 teams that competed in the initial phase of the Atlantic Conference held in Asaba and Ibadan in October.

From those contests, the top four teams from each zone earned their qualification for the Final Eight.

Now, with Delta Force’s unfortunate withdrawal, the competition narrows down to seven teams, all of whom will compete for the two tickets to the National Final Four.

The road to the prestigious Basketball Africa League also involves determining which team will represent Nigeria at this international level.

The Atlantic Conference Eight championship is set to conclude on November 12th in Akure. As the remaining teams prepare to face off, the basketball community and fans eagerly anticipate the thrilling matches and the eventual qualifiers who will advance to the national finals.
