DELTA 2022: SOUTH WEST BALL GAMES ZONAL ELIMINATION COMMENCES ON TUESDAY

As part of the efforts to fine tune the road map in preparation for the successful hosting of the 2022 National Sports Festival tagged “Delta 2022″.

Over eight hundred athletes and their officials from the South Western States of Nigeria will converge at the Lanreleke Sports Academy, Ile Ogbo, Osun State for the commencement of the Zonal Elimination on Tuesday October 4,2022.

The Chairman of the Oyo State Sports Council, Honourable Gbenga Adewusi dropped this hint today at to the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan.

The Chairman disclosed further that the opening ceremony of the five day event will hold on Tuesday October 4, 2022 at 3 pm adding that it will involve Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, 0ndo and Ekiti State.

Adewusi confirmed that over eight hundred participants will partake in the sports team elimination in preparation for the forthcoming 2022 National Sports Festival(NSF) tagged ” Uniting Nigeria, inspiring a new generation”.

He said further that the Zonal team sports stage is scheduled to hold as from October 3 to 7, 2022 in Ile- Ogbo, Osun State of Nigeria.

According to Honourable Adewusi ” the seven sports which are ball games of football,Volley ball, Hockey, Base/Soft ball and Beach Volley Ball are the games that Lanreleke Sports Academy will co host with the Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State.

The 21st edition of the National Sports Festival (NSF) which was earlier scheduled to take place between 2 to 15 November was postponed to hold from 28 November to 10 December 2022 to facilitate the speedy completion of the facilities that will utilized for the national tournaments.

Earlier, the unveiling of the official mascot and logo of the 2022 National Sports Festival took place in Asaba, Delta State on the 6th of July by the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa. At the ceremony, the Minister for Youth and Sports Development, Mr Sunday Dare, disclosed that “over 16,000 athletes across the country will compete for medals in 40 sports during the National Sports Festival.
