“Delay Is Not Denial”: Young Footballer from Nigeria: Adeyemi Blessed Shares His Journey of Struggles and Hope

In the world of football, not every talented player makes it to the spotlight. While some enjoy fame and fortune at a young age, others continue to fight silently for their breakthrough. One of such players is Adeyemi Blessed, a young footballer who, despite years of effort, has yet to achieve the success he dreams of.

Speaking in an exclusive sports247.ng interview, Adeyemi Blessed revealed that his love for football began in childhood. “I grew up watching big players on TV, dreaming that one day I could be like them. Even when things didn’t always go my way, that passion never left me,” he said.

But his journey has been far from smooth. According to him, financial struggles, injuries, and lack of consistent opportunities have been major obstacles. “There were times I couldn’t afford proper boots or kits, and that can really affect your confidence,” he explained. Yet, these challenges have shaped him into a more disciplined and humble player

Reflecting on his career choices, Blessed admitted he would have done some things differently. “I would have taken my fitness and diet more seriously from the start. Football is more than just talent—it’s about discipline and making the right lifestyle choices,” he said, adding that earlier mentorship might have saved him time and effort.

Despite the setbacks, Blessed continues to stay motivated. He draws strength from his childhood memories of playing barefoot, his family’s encouragement, and his faith. “I believe that delay is not denial. Opportunities may be limited now, but as long as I keep working, my moment can come,” he said with determination.

For young footballers facing similar struggles, his advice is clear: “Don’t measure success only by trophies or fame. Football will test you, It will humble you, and sometimes it will break you, but if you truly love it, you must keep going. Play it with joy, with respect, and with the hope that one day your moment will come.”

Adeyemi Blessed’s story is one of perseverance and hope, a reminder that in football, as in life, the journey matters just as much as the destination.
