DAYSTAR CHRISTIAN CENTRE HOME FELLOWSHIP COLLEGE ZONE INTER-COMMUNITIES CHAMPIONS LEAGUE (ICCL) IS BORN – Olumide Ojewumi

Looking to make a difference in our local community and other communities in Lagos State, Daystar Christian Centre Home Fellowship College Zone is set to launch Inter-Communities Champions League (ICCL) structure for a grassroots-based soccer competition that will see various clubs from far-flung locations engage in a home and away contest for glory. The competition will be staged in line with the style and schedule of the vastly popular UEFA Champions League.

 

And according to ICCL Project Lead Obembe Yemi, the Inter-Communities Champions League aims to provide a better avenue for prevention of youthful exuberance and juvenile delinquency. The ICCL eill create opportunities and platforms whereby youth and adolescents would kept busy on a regular basis. It will install a regular foundation for healthy competition that would promote sustained peace across various communities.

‘This project is quite massive. It seeks to promote enhanced social and vocational development among youth and adults of various communities and grassroots localities,’ he revealed.

‘It will establish a vibrant forum for regular cordial interactions among football fans, fun-seekers and the generality of people. The project will provide a strong mobilization point and adequate tool to further propagate the gospel of Jesus Christ through spiritual exercises and teachings at match venues.’

College Road Zonal Coordinator – Olumide Ojewumi was quick to note that this is the maiden edition of the Inter-Communities Champions League and revealed that it will be contested by teams that are invited on merit. The competition will be staged among 16 youth clubs. The ICCL is billed to commence in the 3rd quarter of this year.

Ojewumi noted that as a church, we stand for what will stand for, it all about…raising role models and to empower our youth to discover, develop, release and maximise their potentials in God through sports.

‘This maiden edition of the Inter-Communities Champions League is going to be a huge success as many youth will discover what they stand for and their potentials. The outstanding players will see themselves playing for big clubs of their dream. We call on all individual to accept to foot this innovative and very lofty football competition,’ he Concluded.
