Chisom’s move follows a successful trial period after he travelled to Austria in early January, where he trained with the club’s first team.
During the assessment phase, the defender featured in three friendly matches, delivering composed and disciplined performances that impressed the technical crew and convinced the club to offer him a professional deal.
Known for his positional awareness, physical strength, and calmness on the ball, Chisom showed maturity beyond his years throughout the trial.
His ability to read the game, win duels, and maintain defensive structure stood out, earning positive reviews from the coaching staff.
The transfer was completed before the close of the winter transfer window, but the Nigerian defender is yet to make his official league debut due to ongoing processing of his residence and work permit.
Club officials are confident that approval will be granted in the coming days, after which Chisom will be eligible for competitive action.
For Chisom, the move represents the reward for years of hard work and steady development at grassroots level in Nigeria. His progression from Ogun State to professional football in Austria highlights the growing pathway for young Nigerian defenders into European leagues.
Now settled in Bregenz, Vorarlberg, David Chisom Otugo is focused on adapting quickly to his new environment, continuing his development, and contributing to the defensive strength of Schwarz-Weiß Bregenz as soon as he is cleared to play.
A new adventure has begun, and expectations are high as the young Nigerian looks to make his mark in Austrian football.
