Dannaz FC Entry Into Lagos FA Cup Last 16 Excites Coach Fatai Akande

After the competition was not held last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Lagos WGB FA cup returned this year and with two rounds of fixtures gone, we already have teams in the last 16.

Dannaz FC confirmed their presence in the last 16 after a post by the club’s official site on the back of a victory in the round of 32 fixture against ODIC FC which sees them progress into tougher times.

Fatai Akande, coach of the side, shared his excitement with Sports247, spoke about some of the challenges on the way and how the team had managed to navigate to the last 16.

“A big congratulations to the boys for making it into the last 16. It’s not been easy being involved in multiple competitions coupled with the fact that we don’t have absolute control over the players as some of them stay in the camp and others come from home,” Fatai said.

“Sometimes they also tend to switch on and off and one can’t really blame them as they’re learning. We’re top of the Fusion League table but we’ve had challenges, as well as the players, who didn’t bring their A-game, and it’s part of the learning process as being up there requires being consistent and that’s what these competitions bring,” the coach explained.

“I try to create an atmosphere of competition among the players as everyone is important and developing, so everyone can play as long as they show a positive sign,” he added.

The coach also took time to appreciate the management of the side as well for the support which has gone a long way.

“A lot of kudos goes to the management of Dannaz as they have been fantastic, keeping the boys in various competitions. For a good coach, you need very good management as back up and I can only wish for the best and things should get better,” he said.

“This is a cup game, an open platform, we’ve done it before in other competitions and we can do it again as impossibility is nothing. The lads just need to go all out and express themselves,” he concluded.
