Sports247 gathered that Dubois, who has a Nigerian mother and his father is from Granada, will face Wardley in the champ’s first defence of his World Boxing Organisation (WBO) title on May 9th.

Dubois will now prepare well to upstage ‘The East Anglia Assassin,’ who claimed the interim version of the WBO belt last October with a controversial 11th-round stoppage of former holder, Joseph Parker.

UK’s SunSport revealed, “Wardley was bumped up to full champion status after Oleksandr Usyk‘s vacating of the belt. (His) maiden outing will see him take on former IBF titleholder, Dubois.

“The pair’s respective teams have been locked in talks over a Battle of Britain for the last few days. Boxing and MMA insider Ariel Helwani has revealed the pair will duke it out on May 9.

“The fight is set to land at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester. Wardley’s imminent showdown with Dubois will be his second straight clash against a former world champion.”

Sports247 reports further that Dubois’ father is from Grenada and the boxer was able to obtain French citizenship through him, though he is also of Nigerian descent through his mother.

His younger sister, Caroline Dubois is also a boxer and represented Great Britain at amateur level, during which she became European Junior, World Youth and Youth Olympic champion in 2018.
