Daniel Bameyi Believes Flying Eagles Have Enough ‘Top Quality’ To Overcome Their U20 Group Rivals

Nigeria’s youth national team, Flying Eagles’ captain, Daniel Bameyi has declared that the squad has enough players of top quality who can help them scale through the group stage at the forthcoming 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile.

Sports247 gathered that Coach Aliyu Zubairu’s side will commence their challenge for honours at the youth championship against Norway on September 29th, after which they will tango Saudi Arabia on October 3rd and end group play versus Colomobia on the 6th of October.

Although the group appears to be daunting, Bameyi reiterated that the Nigerian squad will be able to pull through once they step up their training routine and work harder in preparation for the competition.

Bameyi admitted that other countries will also be at the Youth Mundial with huge aspirations of returning home with the trophy, but stressed that he and his colleagues are truly determined to make Nigeria proud with all their matches in Chile.

He added, “It’s not just only for us as a team, but for everybody. This is the World Cup, and everybody will want to be there with the best of their best.

“Everybody wants to prove and show their best. This is football, and you must not call any country a small team. In football, anything can happen; but we believe that our preparations will help us to do well.”

The enterprising defender went on to personally vouch for the standard of preparations the team is enjoying under the watchful eyes of Coach Zubairu, and added that their training sessions have been upgraded to match what they expect to meet at the upcoming global competition.

“I also believe in good preparations and hard work. Success depends on the level of preparation and hard work that we give before the competition, starting from our training sessions.

“The more you train, the more you practise, the better you become. So, I am very positive that we can qualify from that group to the next stage.

“I am very positive because I know we have all it takes, and we’ll keep on working hard. We’ll keep training towards the tournament, and I pray that it will be a great one for us,” Bameyi enthused.
