DALUNG MOURNS DEATH OF NIGERIAN PARA POWERLIFTER

Former Minister of Youth and Sports Barrister Solomon Dalung has commiserated with the Nigeria Paralympic Federation over the death of World record holder and Paralympic gold medalist NDIDI NWOSU.

Nwosu who also won gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia died March 1, 2020 after a protracted illness.

According to the former Powerlifting Federation President Ms Queen Uboh, Ndidi died following complications arising from a spinal cord injury which she sustained at the last Commonwealth Games in Australia.
Dalung expressed sadness over the death the sudden demise of the powerlifter.

“I wish to express my deepest sympathy on the death of a shinning star, powerlifting gold medalist and world record holder Ndidi Nwosu .

“I also sympathize with the Nigeria Powerlifting Federation, sports loving Nigerians and her immediate family members on the death of one of Nigeria’s best powerlifters .

“She was a young woman who put in her best while representing her fatherland in sports. Ndidi Nwosu was one of those hard working powerlifters who put Nigeria’s name on the world map at the last Paralympic Games in Rio, the Commonwealth Games in Australia and the World Cup in Mexico.
“We pray God to grant the family and especially the young children she left behind, the strength to bear the loss”, Dalung said.

The late Ndidi Nwosu is survived by her husband Ikechukwu Nwosu and two children. She was aged 43.
