Glasgow Rangers of Scotland striker, Cyriel Kolawole Dessers is still cherishing what he referred to as ‘a beautiful moment,’ when he scored his 50th goal overall since joining The Gers two seasons ago.
Sports247 reports that the defining moment came for Dessers when he scored twice against Dundee United in the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday, and he acknowledged that it was a splendid milestone for him, especially as he enacted it in front of the team’s home fans.

Dramatically, Dessers’ double in the encounter at Ibrox Stadium – first with a header and then a penalty – also helped him get just one goal short of his best personal season, as he has netted a total of 28 goals in this campaign alone.
Dessers, whose best season came when he struck 29 goals for NAC Breda of Netherlands in 2017, admitted that his personal achievements this term have been tremendous, but confessed that he would have loved helping Rangers get a better run for the title than they had (finishing second behind Celtic).
The in-form striker, who is out of favour with the Super Eagles, expatiated, “It’s been a season with ups and downs. We have our many wishes, but it’s been a season with many bumps … maybe too many bumps. We realised that we needed to work hard in order to get over those bumps and get them out of our game.”
The 30-year-old Dessers, who has also played for Utrecht and Feyenoord in Netherlands, Lokeren and Gent in Belgium as well as Cremonese in Italy, then took consolation from some positives, as he was relieved seeing Rangers end the season on a high with their emphatic win over Dundee United in midweek.
He added, “It’s good to see we got some nice moments after the game for the fans, for the players and for the staff. It was really emotional and nice to end on a positive note at Ibrox. I know that doesn’t make up for the whole season, but it’s a nice feeling for us.”
The mulatto attacker, who has a Nigerian mother and Belgian father, concluded with reflections on his revitalised form, especially his surge to 50 goals overall since his arrival of Ibrox on July 6, 2023.
“It was also a beautiful moment for me. (I felt great with my) 50th goal, and to score it at Ibrox … that’s something I’m very proud of, and it’s a big milestone of my career,” he posited gleefully.
Dessers, who emerged top scorer in the 2021/22 UEFA Conference League while playing for Feyenoord, will now hope to equal or surpass his all-time 29 goals’ record of a single season when he lines out against Hibernians at The Hibs’ ground on Saturday afternoon.
