Cubana Chief Priest confidently converted his spot kick as his side sealed the hard-fought triumph, sparking jubilant celebrations.
Speaking with Sports247 after the match, the celebrity businessman credited positivity and mental focus as key to his performance during the tense shootout.
“We’re always positive. When you’re taking a penalty, you already set your mind on where the ball is going. That’s what we did, and that’s why we emerged winners,” he said.
Explaining his late introduction into the game, Chief Priest described it as a deliberate strategy.
“We had a lot of good players, so I let everyone use their energy and show their talents before I came in to secure the proper win,” he explained.
On why he chose to spend his weekend on the football pitch rather than at a social event, Cubana Chief Priest emphasized the importance of health, fitness, and brotherhood.
“It’s all about brotherhood and keeping fit. This is a fitness club, and without good health, none of these things are possible,” he noted.
Cubana dedicated the victory and medal to his family, revealing it held special significance.
“The medal means so much to me. I told my boys I was coming home with a trophy, and I did it,” he said proudly.
The IASC Above-45 Tournament continues to grow in popularity, promoting camaraderie, fitness, and competition among football veterans in Lagos.
