France is one of the European countries where the corona virus pandemic is very pronounced. Seeing the effect of carelessness this virus can cause, Oparanozie, sometime late last month expressed her concern about how Nigerians are not taking this ‘stay at home’ exercise seriously as she posted on her tweeter page.

“Apparently some Nigerians are not taking COVID19 seriously. I learnt that people are still clubbing, attending events and are all in churches as at today.

Some confirmed cases and it’s like to be more in the coming days. Stay home. Do your bit in fighting this virus.”

As part of the Nigerian Federal Government plans to fight the pandemic in the country, the government, through the President’s broadcast, decided to place a “stay at home order in three states of the federation: Lagos and Abuja, which have been recorded to have the highest number of cases, and Ogun state, due to its proximity to the mega city of Lagos.

The number of cases in Nigeria is on the high. Though with just two deaths so far, the number keeps increasing in tens. As it stands, Nigeria has a total number of about 175 cases with 9 of them already discharged.

Desire oparanozie plies her trade with French league outfit Guingamp and has been there since 2014. She was joined by Nigerian international captain, Evelyn Nwabuoku in the following season. Ahead of the 2019/2020 season, she was named club captain. She had previously played for Atasehir Belediyespor in Turkey, Wolfsburg in Germany as well as Rossiyanka and Luleburgaz 39 spor on loan.

She is a former Delta Queen FC player and Bayelsa Queen FC where she started her professional career. She has also represented Nigeria in the African Women Championship and won it four times: 2010, 2014, 2016 and 2018. She won the golden boot award in the 2014 edition.
