COVID-19: Heavyweight title holder, Ehwarieme ready to take on challengers

World Boxing Federation (WBF) Intercontinental heavyweight title holder,Onoriode Ehwarieme, popularly called as ‘Godzilla’ who defeated Argentine Ariel ‘Chiquito’ Baracamonte at the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos in January title after his combination of vicious blows floored the giant boxer in their 12-round contest is set for international fight once the Coronavirus crisis is averted.

Dubbed as the new ‘Mike Tyson’, he is expected to appear in the colour of Team Delta at Edo 2020 National Sports Festival in kickboxing.

The 6ft 7/201cm tall boxer based in Asaba, Delta State who has 17 knockout boxing career victory said: “The COVID-19 has actually disrupted sporting activities around the world, but I am hopeful it will be over soon,” Ehwarieme stated. “I am in torch with my people, and as soon as this virus is off the ground, I may get the chance to fight for the international title.”

The boxer who has been undergoing series of training is prepared for the next challenge as he gears up for more competition and fight for international titles.

After relocating to the USA and signing with iconic promoter Don King last year, Nigerian Heavyweight Onoriode Ehwarieme returned to his home-country with a bang on Saturday night, December 28, to win the vacant World Boxing Federation (WBF) Intercontinental title in Lagos.
