The appointment of the Ex-Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa was confirmed in an official statement released by the Kano state governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Tofa.
The restructuring follows the expiration of the outgoing board’s one-year tenure and is part of what the governor described as a “strategic effort to reposition Kano Pillars for greater success.”

“This is more than just a reshuffle. It is a deliberate initiative to blend football experience with strong administration. The inclusion of Ahmed Musa reflects the team desire to attract investment, inspire players, and reignite fans’ passion for the club,” the statement read.
Ahmed Musa, a decorated Nigerian international who played in the English Premier League, Russian top flight, and Turkish Super Lig, also served as captain of the national team, the Super Eagles. His appointment has sparked excitement within the football community, especially among Pillars supporters, many of whom still remember his early playing days at the club
Speaking on his new role, Musa expressed gratitude and determination.
“Kano Pillars has always been close to my heart. I’m honoured by this opportunity to contribute in a new capacity. We have great talent, a loyal fan base, and with the right structure, we can aim higher and compete for titles.”
In 2023, Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah approved the appointment of Amobi Paulinus Ezeaku, as the Chief Executive Officer/General Manager of Rangers International Football Club of Enugu
The appointment was made known in a statement by the Media and Communications Officer of the Flying Antelopes, Nobert Okolie.
Enugu Rangers later unveiled CEO Amobi Ezeaku as a new player in the NPFL and he wore jersey number 11. He was part of the squad on Matchweek 23 against Niger Tornadoes in March 2024.
His playing cameo will see Ezeaku follow in the footsteps of Former Edo State Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu, who briefly turned out for Bendel Insurance in the NPFL
Amobi Ekeazu and Former Edo State Deputy Governor Phillip Shaibu off-field duty is truly unprofessional as they are both not active as a professional football player earlier before their political appointments. Despite Ekeazu was a goalkeeper in his active days featured as a player was a joke but the worst part was that of a Deputy Governor of a state.
Several opinion arises when Ahmed Musa was appointed, forgetting he is still active, signed for the team and yet to announce retirement.
The situation raises critical questions;
Would he retire so soon or feared about the span of the tenure as General Manager?
How possible will he combine the two tasks together?
Is that really professional in the Digital world?
What standard of professionalism are we operating in the NPFL?
So far, there are no clear answers from Kano Pillars football club or the League Board.
This decline comes in stark contrast to how professionalism stood out in some other top ranked football league in other African countries.
