Former Nigeria U17 goalkeeper invitee Comfort Erhabor was among the substitutes at the weekend as Portsmouth Women battled to a hard-earned 2–1 victory over Crystal Palace Women in the English Women’s Super League Championship.

The young Nigerian shot-stopper continues to bide her time patiently, awaiting her first official league appearance for the Pompey family. With steady progress and growing confidence in training, Erhabor’s long-awaited debut in the 2025/26 season looks increasingly likely.

Erhabor has already impressed this term in the English Women’s League Cup, where she turned in a commanding performance against her former club, Brighton Women. Despite Portsmouth’s 2–0 defeat that night, the teenager’s calm composure, quick reflexes, and strong handling between the sticks earned her widespread praise from fans and pundits alike.

Among those who took notice was Nigeria’s No.1, Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, who applauded the youngster’s display — a nod that underlines the potential seen in the emerging star.

Still only in the early stages of her career, Erhabor’s work ethic and discipline have not gone unnoticed by Portsmouth’s technical staff. Insiders at the club say her dedication during training sessions has been exceptional, with coaches impressed by her communication, positioning, and agility.

For the 18-year-old, it’s all about patience and preparation. She knows her moment is coming — and when it does, she’ll be ready to seize it.

As Nigeria continues to produce top goalkeeping talents for the women’s game, from Nnadozie to Tochukwu Oluehi, Erhabor may well be the next name to emerge on the international radar
