Young boxing talent Ogunjobi Fatiah, popularly known as “Bianca,” has opened up about the challenge of combining her growing boxing career with her education after securing an impressive victory at the Students Boxing Show in Owode-Ijako.
Representing AFY Boxing, Ifo, Bianca defeated Kaosara Akin of Papalanto by unanimous decision in the U-12 Female 32kg category, with all three judges scoring the three-round contest in her favour.
The young fighter delivered a confident performance from the opening bell, earning a comprehensive 3–0 victory to continue her development in grassroots boxing.
Speaking exclusively to Sports247 after the bout, Bianca expressed her delight at the result while giving glory to God for her success.
“I feel so excited for the victory. Glory be to God Almighty for my victory,” she said.
Despite eventually winning on the judges’ scorecards, Bianca revealed that she entered the contest with an aggressive mindset and initially hoped to end the fight inside the opening round.
“First thing that came to my mind, I want to knock her out in the first round.”
The young boxer credited her confidence to the intensity of her preparation, stressing that she had worked extremely hard during training ahead of the competition.
“I have so much confidence in me because I train well, very hard for the fight.”
Bianca also acknowledged the important roles played by her coach and parents in supporting her development and helping her pursue her boxing ambitions.
“I appreciate my coach’s effort; it really helps me a lot and also my parents for their support towards my career.”
However, beyond the excitement of competition, Bianca is already facing a challenge familiar to many young athletes — maintaining a balance between sporting ambitions and academic responsibilities.
“Combining my boxing career and education together is really tough on me, though I am coping. All thanks to God.”
Her comments underline the discipline required from young athletes who must manage training, competitions and schooling simultaneously.
Bianca’s latest victory provides another encouraging milestone in her development, while also shining a spotlight on the work being done by AFY Boxing, Ifo, in nurturing young talents at grassroots level.
With her determination, confidence and continued support from her coach and family, Bianca will be hoping to build on the 3–0 victory and continue making progress both inside the ring and in the classroom.
