Coal City Blazers BC of Enugu coach, Chidozie Nwoye has promised that his players will not underrate unheralded Athletes For Peace in their next game of the Nigerian Premier Basketball League (NBPL), Sports247 reports.
Nwoye admitted he was thrilled with his team’s opening day 74-58 win over Edo Beads at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, but stressed that they will not get carried away against Athletes for Peace who lost 58-65 to Marktown Flyers.
After seeing his side control the game with pace and tactical discipline to secure an impressive opening-day victory, Nwoye expressed delight with the result, then pointed out that winning always brings happiness, harmony and confidence to his players.
“Basketball is a game of chance. You utilise what your opponent gives you. We noticed what they were doing wrong and took advantage of it, and it really worked for us. It makes me feel good. Whenever you win, you’re happy.
“Shots were not coming easily, so the answer was to keep the ball moving with pace, run them down, make them tired, and keep pushing them. This one is over and now we push on for the next game.
“We are not underrating anyone. We’ll watch their games, sit down, strategise, and plan how to approach tomorrow’s match,” Nwoye disclosed, while hinting that he will set a new gameplan for their next fixture.
