Coach Blankson Backs Rivers Angels To Win Federation Cup Final

Head coach of Rivers Angels, Tosan Blankson, has voiced confidence in his team’s ability to win the upcoming Federation Cup final against arch-rivals Nasarawa Amazons, despite acknowledging the difficulty of the contest.

Speaking during a pre-match briefing, Blankson admitted that Nasarawa Amazons remain a formidable side, especially after their victory over Rivers Angels in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Super 6.

However, he noted that the Federation Cup presents a new opportunity, and his players are fully motivated to secure silverware.

“This final means everything to us. We missed out in the league, and this is our only chance to win a trophy this season. That alone is a big motivation,” Blankson said. “Yes, Nasarawa beat us in the Super 6, but finals are different. We’re ready.”

Rivers Angels, one of Nigeria’s most successful women’s football clubs, have endured a mixed season, falling short in key moments. However, the Federation Cup run has brought renewed belief, and the team is determined to finish strong.

Blankson highlighted his team’s improved mentality and tactical preparation heading into the final, saying that previous defeats have only made them stronger. He praised the players’ commitment during training and urged fans to rally behind the team.

“Our preparation has been intense. The girls are focused, and we’ve corrected our mistakes. We want to bring the trophy home to our fans,” he said.

The Federation Cup final is scheduled for the weekend and promises to be a thrilling showdown between two of the country’s top women’s teams. Both sides are known for their competitive edge and attacking style of play, setting the stage for a closely contested encounter.

Victory would mark a significant redemption for Rivers Angels and provide a positive conclusion to an otherwise challenging season.
