Coach Abdulrahman Attributes D’Tigers Afrobasket Performance to Lack of Funding

Mohammed Abdulrahman, the coach of Nigeria’s D’Tigers at the Afrobasket tournament in Tunisia, lamented the team’s subpar performance, attributing it to a lack of adequate preparation due to funding constraints.

Abdulrahman emphasized that the team’s inability to train effectively before the tournament resulted in a lack of synergy and an abundance of mistakes during gameplay.

“If we get our act together and we have the necessary support in terms of funding and everything, we’ll prepare much earlier and then, we’re going to be fine,” stated Abdulrahman.

“When we have the same team, we get a chance to put in a few practice sessions, then it’s going to be fine.”

Abdulrahman highlighted the importance of practice sessions in rectifying the team’s mistakes, which were becoming apparent during the tournament.

He expressed confidence that with adequate preparation, the team would be able to address these issues and perform better in future competitions.

“Most of the mistakes we’re making, we’re making them here at the tournament and we’re paying dearly for it,” Abdulrahman explained.

“If we have a few practice sessions, we’re going to take care of all those mistakes and then it’s going to be a different ball game here.”

Abdulrahman’s remarks underscored the critical role that proper funding and preparation play in the success of national sports teams.

He emphasized the need for support to ensure that Nigerian athletes have the resources they need to compete effectively on the international stage.
