CNS Spikers Eye African Club Championship After Super Cup Triumph in Abuja

CNS Spikers emerged victorious in the final against Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) with a 3–1 scoreline (21–25, 25–18, 25–23, 25–17), bouncing back from a previous league defeat to the same opponents and demonstrating their resilience and superiority in the domestic cage.

Reflecting on the victory, Coach Mohammed acknowledged the learning curve from their earlier loss to NCS, highlighting the team’s preparation and determination as key factors in their Super Cup success.

“Volleyball is a continuity thing,” Mohammed said. “We lost a match against them in the league, but we weren’t prepared. At the end of the day, we were able to take the Super Cup, confirming our superiority to them.”

The title win not only adds another trophy to the CNS Spikers’ cabinet but also positions them to represent Nigeria at the African Club Championship, a continental competition that brings together elite clubs from across the continent.

Coach Mohammed used the occasion to express his gratitude to the Chief of Naval Staff for supporting the team’s success and urged continued backing for their continental campaign.

“Glory be to God Almighty, and I want to pass my very good appreciation to the Chief of Naval Staff for making this success possible. We plead that the Chief of Naval Staff sponsor the team for the African Club Championship so that from Nigeria, we move to Africa.”

With momentum on their side and confidence high following their Super Cup victory, CNS Spikers are now preparing to test themselves against Africa’s best clubs — an opportunity the coach says will not only raise the club’s profile but also showcase Nigerian volleyball on the continental stage.
