Chukwuka Cherishes Hitting Target In Sri Lanka

New Youngs FC of Sri Lanka midfielder, Chidi Chukwuka Birchman (aka Olohunwa) has revealed his deep level of satisfaction on his goal for the club against the league leaders, Colombo FC.

Sports247.ng can report that the former FC Ebedei of Sagamu and First Bank FC of Lagos youngster was excited to hit target, despite his team falling 3-2 to their more fancied hosts in the Dialog Champions League.

Although his side could not eke out a draw from the game, ‘Olohunwa’ said he was happy that Colombo FC were made to sweat to get victory against his team, who managed to cut the scoreline to 3-2.

He further noted that the week 13 fixture at City Football Complex, Colombo accorded him the opportunity to assert his place in the Youngs’ squad, which he joined in the summer of last year.

The hosts looked dominant in the early stages, but Youngs’ goalkeeper Danushka Rajapaksha was not tested as Colombo struggled to unlock the visitors’ stubborn defense.

Against the run of play Nimo gave New Youngs a surprise lead when he tapped home a cross from Mohamed Fawzan who caught the defense off guard and sent in a cross from the left flank.

Despite going a goal down, Colombo FC continued to dominate the game with no luck up until the 27th minute when Mohamed Aakib powered home a volley after controlling the ball brilliantly to level the scores.

The second half started with exchanges being even, before Colombo FC settled into a rhythm, but Harshana Viduranga kept their goalkeeper Mohamed Imran busy with some on-target long range efforts.

The game swiftly moved towards the Colombo FC goal and a fumble by Mohamed Imran on a cross gave Olohunwa a simple tap in as Youngs re-took the lead.

However, the lead did not last long as Dilan Kaushalya equalized for Colombo after a flick back from Mohamed Rifnaz on the hour mark.

Mohamed Fazal then gave Colombo FC the lead for the first time as a miscommunication by the New Youngs defense gave an open goal for Fazal to slot in.

New Youngs pressed hard for an equalizer as Charitha Rathnayake and co had their work cut out in the defense, but Birchman took consolation from his goal and took to social media to celebrate the feat.

Birchman, who hails from Imo State, postted: “Thank God for his mercies against colombo fc#Godwillfinishthathehasstarted.”
