Chukwueze Nominated for African Laliga MVP Award

Super Eagles and Villarreal of Spain young star, Samuel Chukwueze has been nominated for the maiden edition of the LaLiga African player of the season award.

This is an award put together to reward african players doing business in the Laliga. Moroccan and Sevilla’s goalkeeper Yassine ‘Bono’ Bounou in January, was awarded african Laliga player of the mid season after he was voted the winner.

The award seeks to recognize the importance and value of African footballers to Laliga as there are more than 25 footballers plying their trade in the Laliga.

Football fans are given the privilege to make thier choice of the most valuable african player of the year in the Laliga.

Fans taking part in voting for the LaLiga African MVP award competition can win a trip to Spain to watch a Laliga game live and this was launched by former Super Eagles and Real Mallorca Star Mutiu Adepoju.

The competition will come to a close on May 22 and fans who took part in voting can also win LaLiga jerseys and merchandise. “We were blown away by the response from African football fans to the launch of the African MVP award this season

“African audiences have grown in their Viewership and support of Laliga over the years, buoyed by the performances of some of the continent’s fantastic footballers in the league.

“This competition is a fitting tribute to the growth and stature of the African market to Laliga and we encourage fans to participate in their numbers to vote for their standout African Laliga Santander star this season,” said Marcos Pellegrin, Laliga Southern African Managing Director.

Also nominated alongside Chukwueze are Villarreal teammates Ivory Coast’s fullback Serge Aurier, Senegalese forward Boulaye Dia, and Algerian defender Aissa Mandi. Other nominees include Atletico Madrid’s Geoffrey Kondogbia, Valencia’s Illaix Moriba, and Real Betis’ Youssouf Sabaly.

Chukwueze will also fancy his chances against the award’s favourites, former Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Barcelona teammates Ez Abde, as well as Sevilla’s Moroccan duo of goalkeeper Yassine “Bono” Bounou and striker Youssef En-Nesyri.
