Chukwuebuka Enekwechi Falls Behind Shot Put Rivals Campbell, Kovacs In New York Meet

Nigerian shot put record holder, Chukwuebuka Enekwechi fell behind Rajindra Campbell and Joe Kovacs to finish in third position at the 118th Millrose Games in New York, USA, Sports247 reports.

While Enekwechi entered the event as log leader, he dropped to third overall, after Campbell enacted the world’s best throw of the season to win the event, while Kovacs placed second.

The third place podium spot came for Enekwechi with a throw of 20.63m in the second round, but the winning mark was 20.96m for two-time Paris 2024 Olympics bronze medalist Campbell, followed by current world champiom Kovacs with 20.90m.

Things got tougher for Enekwechi in the fifth round, as Campbell threw 21.77m, while Kovacs got 21.21m for second place, but Enekwechi could not improve on his second-round throw and ended third in his debut at the indoor meet and he also dropped from first to number three in the world’s top bracket so far this year.
