Nigerian-born former England youth international, Chuba Akpom was on song with a goal that ensured Ipswich Town won 2-0 away to Hull City, who featured Semi Ajayi and Babajide Akintola in their starting line-up.
Sports247 reports that Akpom and Chilean striker, Marcelino Nunez got the goals that helped Ipswich seal a third straight away victory in the second-tier English Championship and they climbed to fourth place on the log.

Nunez headed in Jaden Philogene’s cross to put The Tractor Boys ahead at MKM Stadium, where their bench was the starting spot for the widely travelled Akpom, who has been overlooked repeatedly by the Super Eagles’ despite committing his international future to Nigeria since 2023.
Ajayi started in central defence and Akintola on the wings, as Hull tried to lift their unbeaten run at home to seven games, but their hopes fell flat when Akpom got off the visitors’ bench to make it 2-0 four minutes after Nunez’s opener.
The closest The Tigers came to a goal was a first-half shot against the post by DR Congo ace, Joel Ndala, but the loss slammed Ajayi, Akintola and their teammates to eighth spot on the table, while Akpom’s side soared four spots into the play-off places.
The Tractor Boys’ assurance goal of the night came via a corner kick, after the hosts’ goalkeeper parried a header into the path of Akpom (who had a loan spell at Hull from 2015 to 2016) and he calmly slapped home his first Ipswich goal, while the hosts’ call for offside was overlooked.
Sports247 gathered that Akpom’s goal ensured an extended winning run for Ipswich to six games, ahead of Friday’s visit to Oxford United, while Ajayi, Akintola and The Tigers will next be in action on Saturday away to Stoke City.
Akpom’s coach, Kieran McKenna later told BBC Radio Suffolk: “We scored a really good first goal and you could see the difference that made to the game, confidence comes into the group, the opposition open up some more spaces and stop working so hard to stop us.”
