Chuba Akpom Clinches PFA Championship Players’ Player of The Year Award

In a remarkable feat, England-born Nigerian striker Chuba Akpom has secured the coveted Professional Football Association (PFA) Championship Players’ Player of the Year award.

The accolade was conferred upon Akpom during the illustrious 50th PFA Awards ceremony, which unfolded at the esteemed Lowry Theatre on August 29.

Akpom’s exceptional performance throughout the previous season proved to be his winning card. The former Arsenal player showcased his striking prowess by notching an impressive tally of 28 goals in the Championship and across various competitions for Middlesbrough.

His dynamic contributions on the field extended beyond mere goal-scoring, propelling him to clinch the Golden Boot and eventually a noteworthy £10 million move to Ajax.

Erling Haaland, the prolific Manchester City striker, stood out among his peers, securing the prestigious PFA Players’ Player of the Year award.

Meanwhile, Bukayo Saka of Arsenal was duly recognized for his outstanding talents, walking away with the PFA Young Player of the Year accolade.

The PFA Team of the Year bore the indelible imprint of both Arsenal and Manchester City, each contributing significantly to the elite XI.

A total of nine players from these two squads were acknowledged for their exceptional contributions, a reflection of their intense competition for the Premier League title last season, ultimately won by Manchester City.
