Flying Eagles of Nigeria midfielder Alabi Sulaiman Jojo has expressed his delight over securing the World Cup ticket with the team.
Alabi, who featured in the quarterfinal match on Monday, noted that the World Cup ticket is his utmost target with the team, even as the team also progressed to the semi-final of the ongoing AFCON after defeating the defending champions.
The young midfielder who was subbed off in the 79th minute in the game on Monday, played a crucial role in the match where the Flying Eagles eventually triumphed 3-1 on penalties after playing out goalles draw in both regulation and extra time.
Alabi had earlier come in as a substitute in the group stage matches.
“I am very happy for the victory. It’s a dream come true for me to qualify for the World Cup. At this point, we just want to continue to focus on the subsequent matches so that we can win the AFCON, ” he said.
Alabi,a product of La Planet Sport Academia, is one of the promising talents in the Flying Eagles squad. He was part of the team that won the WAFU-B championship back in October last year under the same tutelage of Coach Aliyu Zubairu.
The Flying Eagles became the first African team to qualify for the U20 World to be hosted by Chile from September 17 to 19 October, 2025.
