The Island All Stars Sports Club Lagos took to the pitch at the historic Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, in a friendly clash with Ultimate Friends & Recreation Sports Club Lagos on Saturday, September 27.
The encounter ended 2–1 in favor of the hosts, but according to the Club’s Director of Sports, Chief Okorafor Ikechi Faustinus, the real achievement went far beyond the scoreboard.

In his post-match reflections, Chief Okorafor reaffirmed his leadership philosophy, emphasizing that the club’s image and values stand above everything else.
“The image of the club matters so much, and I will protect it with the greatest team. Everywhere we go, we want people to see what we stand for. That is the same message we are passing to all All Star clubs in Nigeria.
We are always happy, and sport is one of the most powerful tools for unity. It keeps us fit, and we are preaching that to everyone over 45 years—to keep keeping fit,” he declared.
The match itself reflected the fighting spirit of Island All Stars. They opened the scoring with a well-worked early goal and held their lead for much of the game, showcasing tactical discipline and team unity. However, late substitutions by the hosts, introducing younger and energetic players, shifted the balance of play and ultimately delivered the 2–1 result.
For Chief Okorafor, however, the day was a success:
“We want every All Star club in Nigeria to see that what we carry is bigger than football—it is about unity, identity, and inspiring people to stay active, stay healthy, and stay connected. That is what Island All Stars represent.”
Supporting his vision, the Secretary of the Sports Management Committee, Ugochukwu Chukwudalu, added:
“For us, winning is not the only goal. Football is a bridge of love, friendship, and togetherness. That is the heartbeat of Island All Stars, and that is what we stand for.”
The message from Onikan was loud and clear: Island All Stars may not have claimed victory on the scoreboard, but under the guidance of Chief Okorafor Ikechi Faustinus, they continue to win in the greater arena of sportsmanship, unity, and excellence.
TOGETHER WE DO GREAT THINGS.
