Sports247 reports that Obi was again in top form for The Red Devils’ junior team on Tuesday, which left many observers repeatedly hailing his talent, and Binnion admitted the youngster is a gem.
However, Binnion also pointed out that a lot more than his age can carry is being expected from Obi, hence his agreement that the youngster could develop better if loaned to a smaller team.
In effect, United are ready to allow Obi step out on loan next season, as they want the Nigerian-born Denmark international get more game time that would further help his progression.
Obi, who became the youngest player ever to start an English Premier League game for United at 17 years and 156 days, recently netted all of United’s goals in their 4-1 victory over Leicester City U21s.
Nevertheless, Binnion conceded that Obi, who was born in Copenhagen’s Glostrup suburb on November 29th, 2007, is still young and needs more exposure for him to become part of The Red Devils’ mainframe.
United’s U21 team gaffer added, “It’s not easy for him, because people look at him like he’s a big kid. But, the key thing there is he’s still very young. He’s still learning his game and he’s got loads to come.
“That will come from how he sees the game, keeps working hard and recognises he has stuff to develop. That’s always a challenge when you have first-team exposure, then go away and have to start working on things.”
