Sports247 reports that it was a follow up to his opening event of the year on January 18th, when Okezie finished second in the 400m with a time of 46.62s at the CMCM Indoor Meeting in Luxembourg.
In his second race of the season on January 22nd, Okezie also finished second in the men’s 400m at the Bauhaus Indoor Gala in Sweden, where he clocked 46.93s behind Carl Bengtström.
While Okezie put up a spirited chase during his second race of the year, he could not edge aside Bengtström, as the Swedish home boy took the win with a Meet Record (MR) of 46.45s.
However, his third race of the year on Wednesday showed a consistent surge for the Africa Games champion, as he continues his sub-47 streak of the indoor season, heading into the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
Okezie, who was born in the USA but opted to represent his father’s country, is fast emerging a strong medal prospect at the Games scheduled for July 23rd to August 2nd in Glasgow, Scotland.
Meanwhile, attention will on Friday shift to Erfurt Indoor Meeting, where two Nigerians will be in keen competition, as Fola Olaoye and Enoch Adegoke both get set to line out in the men’s 60m.
