Chibby Nwoko Set To Join Iwobi, Bassey, Chukwueze In Fulham’s Main Squad Ahead Of Next Season

Fast-rising Nigerian-born youngster, Chibuzo Nwoko (aka Chibby) is set to join the trio of Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey and Samuel Chukwueze in the main squad at Fulham of England ahead of next season in the English Premier League.

Sports247 reports that 19-year-old Nwoko’s promotion came on the same evening Fulham announced that they have released 14 players, with highly-rated Raul Jimenez listed among the stars departing Craven Cottage this summer.

While several of The Cottagers’ regular players will not be around for next season in the EPL, the troika of Iwobi, Bassey and Chukwueze will be around Craven Cottage to welcome Nwoko into their fold at the start of pre-season training.

Those who will not be there to welcome Nwoko into the fold include Steven Benda, Devan Tanton, Bradley De Jesus, Ollie Gofford, Charlie Robinson, Joseph Walters, Tom Wingate, Callum Cliff, Marcell Hall and Ruban Khan.

Oliver Mayer, Harley Platel and Quinn Schutter have also been axed, while Nwoko is one of eight lads with new contracts, alongside Harry Wilson, Samuel Amissah, Jonathan Esenga, Michael Allen, Tom Olyott, Jayden Quashie and Olly Sanderson.

The Cottagers’ coach of last season, Marco Silva is also stepping away, thereby putting an end to his five-year stay in west London and a new gaffer will be on ground to tinker Nwoko at the start of pre-season.

A citation for the youngster by Fulham’s media unit noted, “Chibby joined us at under-12s level from rivals Chelsea. He’s a calm and composed midfielder who has a strong range of passing.

“He featured heavily throughout the 2023/24 season for the U18s – scoring a stunning goal against his former club Chelsea early into the campaign. The left-footed lad signed his first professional contract at Fulham in September 2024.

“Chibby has an eye for the spectacular. His two goals for the U21s last season were both screamers, scoring from outside the box against Leicester and Nottingham Forest.”

Sports247 gathered further that Chibby featured in 16 games for Fulham’s under-21 side before moving on loan to Forest Green Rovers, whose coach, Robbie Savage described him as ‘one of their best young talents that can play as a six or an eight.’
