The president of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau says Franco-Malian tactician, Eric Sekou Chelle will not dump the Super Eagles, because he can achieve all he wants with the team.
Sports247 reports that Gusau spoke with reference to recent reports that Chelle could be on his way towards taking over Tunisia’s national team ahead of this year’s FIFA World Cup.

While also taking note of a report in the international media that Chelle is dreaming of coaching Real Madrid of Spain one day, Gusau stressed that the former Mali gaffer has a year left on his contract in Nigeria.
The NFF’s supremo added that everyone at the football governing body is supporting Chelle to make his mark with the Eagles, because they know he loves the team and the players also like him.
He revealed, “We still have a one-year contract with Eric and, therefore, whatever interest anybody will show in him, he has to wait until his contract expires.
“We don’t want to bring some distraction on him, because we quite well understand that he enjoys working with Nigeria.”
Gusau went on to affirm that Chelle would rather stick with a job he is sure of, considering that he stabilized his position in the Eagles with their third place finish at the recent Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
The NFF’s boss also reckoned that the highly-emotional tactician would rather stay put with the Nigerian national team instead of seeking a new lease of life with another squad where his salary would not readily be assured.
“It’s not about a team is interested in you. If you go to the other team, despite the fact that they are going to give him more money, is he’s going to get the results?
“That’s not the issue. The issue is do they have the materials for him to work with, to achieve what he wants to achieve?
“The dream of every single coach is to make sure that he achieves success, especially on higher tournaments,” Gusau pointed out.
He concluded with an assurance that the NFF will also do everything to ensure that Chelle stays in Nigeria, and added: “The key thing is that I know Coach Eric believes in Super Eagles.
“He believes that he can achieve whatever he wants to achieve in his career. He has so much belief in the Super Eagles. He has every confidence that he can achieve all his dreams with the Super Eagles.”
