CHAN 2014 MVP and Former Nigeria International, Christantus Ejike Uzoenyi Appointed Rangers FC Academy Director

Former Nigerian international and 2014 African Nations Championship (CHAN) Most Valuable Player (MVP), Christantus Ejike Uzoenyi, has been named Academy Director of Rangers FC.

The club confirmed the appointment in an official statement on Monday, announcing Uzoenyi for the preatigius role.

It was a double celebration for Uzoenyi Ejike who also obtained the U.S. Soccer Grassroots 11v11 In-Person Coaching License, issued on August 4, 2025.

“This milestone is more than just a certification; it is a powerful symbol of Ejike’s relentless pursuit of excellence and deep commitment to youth development,” Rangers FC stated.

“From dazzling on the pitch as a player to now shaping the future of football as a coach and mentor, his journey is a story of evolution, grit, and purpose.”

The club emphasized that Uzoenyi’s growing coaching credentials will further strengthen its vision of nurturing technically skilled, disciplined, and mentally resilient young footballers.

Ejike Uzoenyi, 37, enjoyed a successful playing career featuring for clubs including Enyimba, Enugu Rangers, Rennes, and Mamelodi Sundowns.

Internationally, he represented Nigeria in 21 matches, scoring three goals, and was a member of the title winning Super Eagles’ squads to the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, the 2014 African Nations Championship where he won the MVP award.

With his new role and coaching certification, Uzoenyi is set to lead Rangers FC’s academy in developing the next generation of football talent.
