Celtic Handed Kelechi Iheanacho Boost Ahead of Must-Win Title Race Clash with Hearts

Celtic have received a significant lift ahead of their Scottish Premiership trip to Tynecastle, with striker Kelechi Iheanacho returning to training as the Hoops prepare to face Hearts in a crucial league encounter.

Manager Martin O’Neill confirmed that Iheanacho has rejoined full training after a spell on the sidelines, raising hopes that the Nigerian international could feature against Hearts, even if a starting role remains unlikely at this stage.

“I think that was his second day back in training,” O’Neill said. “He didn’t travel with us, but he did fine today. It might be a bit of a stretch to start him in a game at the moment, but at least he is going to be available.”

While Iheanacho is still working his way back to full match fitness, his return provides O’Neill with an important attacking option ahead of a fixture the Celtic boss has described as a “must not lose” game in the title race.

The former Premier League striker’s experience and goal-scoring pedigree could prove vital, particularly if Celtic are forced to chase the game at Tynecastle.

Celtic’s attacking resources have been under scrutiny in recent weeks, making Iheanacho’s return especially timely.

His presence on the bench could offer a different dimension in the final stages, as the Hoops look to maintain momentum in the Scottish Premiership.

Celtic will make the journey to Edinburgh hoping that Iheanacho’s gradual return, alongside improvements in squad depth, can help them secure a positive result against a Hearts side known for making Tynecastle a difficult venue for visiting teams.
