Captain Fantastic: Ifemeludike Inspires Island All Stars to Super Cup Glory

Uche Ifemeludike delivered a captain’s performance as Island All Stars defeated Team Lugna Properties in the Island All Stars International Sports Club Super Cup, marking the start of the 2026 season in emphatic fashion.

The skipper opened the scoring in the 7th minute, rising above the defence to power home a header that set the tone for the contest.

He then turned provider in the opening five minutes of the second half, assisting the second goal to put his side firmly in control.

It was a complete display from the captain, who was deservedly named Man of the Match.

“I feel very elated and it’s a product of hard work, by putting everything I’ve got into this game,” Ifemeludike said after the match.

Interestingly, despite being the designated penalty taker, he handed responsibility to a teammate after Island All Stars had taken the lead — a decision that reflected the unity within the squad.

“We believe in ourselves and we’re committed. We created a lot of chances and keeping more possession gave us the edge,” he explained.

Looking ahead to the new campaign, the captain expressed confidence in the club’s ambitions.

“This 2026 season is fully packed with activities across different sports. In football, we are looking at six to seven matches, including away trips to Uyo and Akure. We want to secure wins in every game.”

Reflecting on his opener, he described it as “instinctive,” adding that he is working hard to score even more goals this season.
