Can Moses Usor Recover in Time for AFCON 2027 Qualifiers?

The match winner for Nigeria in their 2-1 victory against Madagascar, Moses Usor, is currently in a race against time to be fit for the Super Eagles’ upcoming AFCON 2027 Qualifiers against Tanzania.

The 24-year-old forward, Moses Usor, made an instant impression for his country during his senior debut, netting a brilliant solo goal to seal all three points in their opening match of the AFCON 2027 Qualifiers series.

Although he was unable to replicate that goalscoring magic in Nigeria’s subsequent 3-0 defeat against Guinea-Bissau, Usor did more than enough to earn himself a spot in the national team setup for the upcoming back-to-back international games in November against Tanzania.

However, a shoulder injury that forced him to miss LASK’s recent 6-3 defeat against Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League is now seriously threatening his inclusion in the upcoming international fixtures.

Reports indicate that the injury will not require surgery, but his availability will depend heavily on how quickly and effectively he recovers over the coming days. The recovery timeline could coincide directly with when Nigeria host Tanzania in Uyo next month for the crucial qualification encounter.

The Super Eagles coaching staff will be watching his progress closely, as his tactical versatility and direct attacking threat were expected to play a key role in unlocked defenses during the November international window.

LASK’s medical team is working around the clock to manage his rehabilitation without rushing him back into competitive action too soon, which could run the risk of aggravating the shoulder issue further.

For Nigeria, losing a forward of his dynamic caliber would represent a significant blow to their preparation plans. Supporters across the country remain hopeful that the winger will receive medical clearance in time to feature in Uyo and help steer the national team toward back-to-back victories in their ongoing campaign.
