Young Cameroonian basketball talent Franck Belibi has described his selection for the Basketball Without Borders (BWB) All-Star Camp as a major milestone in his development, highlighting both national pride and personal growth from the elite global showcase.
Speaking during an interview at the camp, Franck said the opportunity to compete among the world’s best young players was deeply meaningful.
“It meant a lot to represent Cameroon and also represent Denver on a global stage,” he said. “Being able to show what I can do against the best players in the world meant a lot.”
The BWB camp, which brings together top prospects from different continents, also offered Franck direct access to high-level mentorship. He emphasized the impact of learning from seasoned professionals throughout the week.
“It was great to have mentors, NBA players and NBA coaches around,” he noted. “Learning about communication, playing hard, and understanding the game better, all of that will definitely help me grow as a player.”
Asked about his approach to standing out in a highly competitive environment, Franck said he focused on showcasing his strengths.
“I wanted to show my athleticism, my speed, my passing ability,” he explained. “I’m a shot-maker, and that’s something I really wanted to emphasize.”
One of the standout moments of the camp for Franck came through his interaction with Pascal Siakam, an NBA All-Star who previously passed through the same Basketball Without Borders programme.
“It was great,” Franck said. “Pascal is another Cameroonian, so seeing his journey gave me hope. It made me believe I could be the next great player from Cameroon.”
The Basketball Without Borders camp continues to serve as a key pathway for young African talents, and Franck’s experience reflects the growing influence of the programme in shaping the next generation of global basketball stars.
