Rave reviews are trailing Erling Haaland’s goal and two assists for Manchester City of England against Fulham on Tuesday night, but one of the opposing defenders, Calvin Bassey insists his compatriot, Victor Osimhen deserves similar accolades.
Sports247 reports that Bassey gave away one of the goals against his side with a costly blunder, as Haaland went on to torment him in 90 minutes of action and helped City pull off a historic 5-4 away win at Craven Cottage.

While Bassey’s Nigerian colleagues and clubmates made hay, as Alex Iwobi pulled a goal back and Samuel Chukwueze scored two in a dramatic resurgence for Fulham, the biggest talking point from the tie was about Haaland.
The Norway star is also being celebrated for reaching the 100 goals mark at the quickest time in English Premier League history, but Bassey insists Osimhen is capable of doing the same.
The former Leicester City of England and Glasgow Rangers of Scotland centre back noted that Osimhen has similar attributes with Haaland in terms of height, speed, hunger for goal, good positioning and lethal finishing.
Bassey reasoned further, “They are both strong and very fast. You always have to be on guard when playing against them, because they can harm you at any time.
“So, you have to be ready, always in the right position, and keep an eye on where they are. They are the kind of players who physically take a lot out of you.”
Although Bassey added that Osimhen has a slight edge ahead of Haaland when it comes to shooting power and physical strength, he concluded with a verdict that they basically lie on the same scale as world football’s best strikers of the moment.
“They are both at the same level, and they are both hard to come up against,” posited Bassey, who played all 90 minutes for Fulham and found Haaland tough to tackle throughout the encounter at Craven Cottage.
