CAF has unveiled a new trophy and a record $10.4 million prize pool for CHAN 2024, which will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania from August 2 to 30, 2025. Winners will earn $3.5 million, marking a 75% increase. The new trophy features 54 lines for 54 African nations.
Victor Wanyama, Denis Onyango, and Mrisho Ngasa united to unveil the Total Energies CAF African Nations Championship [CHAN] trophy. The Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper will miss the start of the 2025/26 Campaign as he will be serving as Uganda’s goalkeeper coach at the tournament.

The CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe also has announced a record-breaking prize money for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
Winners – $3.5 million (75% increase)📈
Runners-Up – $1.2 million
Third Place – $700,000
Fourth Place – $600,000
Quarter-Finalists – $450,000 each
3rd in Group Stage – $300,000 each
4th in Group Stage – $200,000 each
5th in 5-Team Group – $200,000
– Total prize pool: $10.4M (32% boost).
The tournament will start from 2nd of Aug 2025 to 30th of Aug 2025, and this will be the first edition to be hosted by three countries; Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
This massive boost reflects CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe’s strong commitment to making CHAN a top-tier, rewarding tournament for locally-based African talents.
