CAF Confederation Cup: ‘Plateau United’s Hostile Treatment Spurned Us To Keep The Nigerian Flag Flying,’ Nyima Nwagua Reveals

Rivers United forward, Nwangwa Nyima has revealed the secret behind his team’s victory against Al Nasr owing to using Plateau United’s hostile treatment to motivate themselves at the ongoing CAF Confederation Cup qualification games as they won 6-1 on aggregate to seal thier passage to the next round.

The Nigeria based club had previously won 5-0 in the first leg at thier home ground and drew 1-1 when they travelled to Libya with Nyima scoring the leveller to secure a 6-1 scoreline.

Thier fellow compatriots, Plateau United crashed out against Al Akhdar having won 4-1 at thier home ground but lost 3-0 in the return leg with away goal rule with alleged claims of hostile treatment from the host club and thier fans.

In an interview made available to Sports247.ng, Nyima revealed the state of the team after thier progression, ‘we all feel very excited after watching our neighbouring team, Plateau United coming here, facing this hostility and they couldn’t keep up and they lost it the final minute.’

‘We told ourselves that we have to keep the flag of Nigeria flying, so we put in our all and gave our best and we came out victorious.’

‘We are really happy, our camp is bubbling, we are not only celebrating Rivers United but we are celebrating Nigeria in Libya,’ he concluded.
