Dar es Salaam – Azam FC head coach Florent Ibenge has expressed strong confidence in his team’s chances of qualifying for the CAF Confederation Cup group stage, citing solid preparation and squad strength as key factors.
The 2022 CAF Confederation Cup winner with RS Berkane stated that his team has been working hard in training and remains focused ahead of their clash against KMKM of Zanzibar, a side he believes will not pose significant pressure on Azam.

“We have a strong squad this season, and our goal is to reach the group stage. We are already 99 percent there, and I believe this will be a historic moment for the club. If possible, we aim to go even further,” said Ibenge.
The DR Congo-born tactician added that he sees Azam as capable of reaching the semi-finals, given the quality of players and the attacking style of football the team has developed under his leadership.
Last season, Ibenge’s former club Al Hilal of Sudan was eliminated in the CAF Champions League quarter-finals, while Azam FC exited in the first round against APR of Rwanda.
If Azam succeed in qualifying for the group stage this time, it will mark the first time in the club’s history — since its establishment in 2007 — to reach that milestone in continental football.
