Enyimba Fc today crashed out of the CAF Champions League, despite winning 2-1 in Aba against El Meireikh of Sudan in their return leg tie of the CAF Champions League final knockout round, Sports247 reports.
The Peoples Elephant who lost 3-0 to the Sudanese giants in the first leg were defeated 4-2 on aggregate to ensure their demotion to the CAF Confederation Cup, rather than the group stages of the CAF Champions League.
Saif gave the visitors the lead as earlier as the 5th minute of the game, but a brace (two goals) from Mbaoma in the 14th and 51st minutes gave Enyimba the win, but it wasn’t enough to see Fatai Osho’s team through to the group stages of CAF first-tier competition.
Following that defeat to the Sudanese side, the Peoples Elephant will now play in the CAF Confederation Cup, as El Meireikh progresses to the group stages of the CAF Champions League.
I wrote in November 2020 that we should not expect any good result from this present under-age teams due to number of reasons ranging from Pinnick selection of coaches for the underage teams using Philip Consulting, (It took almost a year to select the underage coaches and this is what Philip Consulting in conjunction with NFF Administration could produce for Nigeria. It is a big shame for Mr. Mervin Pinnick and other administrative staffs like the secretary General Dr, Sanusi including Philip Consulting Ltd), late preparation of the team, poor camping arrangements and so on. Mr. Pinnick should know that his administrative scorecard of the under-age team’s performance is being recorded for posterity and his performance since he assumed office has been generally very poor. Imaging all the under-age will all the under-age teams will be eliminated from the preliminary round (WAFU zone B). I will continue to say it that this present administration has no plan for youth development. it is only about Super Eagles and the future of Super Eagles in term of Home-base Eagles is in serious jeopardy. That is why Nigeria has always failed to qualify for CHAN Nation Cup and when we qualify like under Coach Sunday Oliseh we were eliminated in the group stage without make any impact in the tournament. Let me say this once again Mr. Pinnick administration is a bad Omen for domestic football development. (Check his records on domestic and youth development it has been always poor e.g Enyimba has just been bundle out of CAF Champion League by El-Merreck of Sudan 4-2 aggregate making it the third time none of the local club sides will qualify for the group stage of the champion league where South Africa Kaiser Chiefs has qualified. It is a big shame to your administration Mr. Mervin Pinnick. Mr. Dare the Sport Minister take note that this administration has completely failed Nigeria and nothing good is worth mentioning under this administration in term of football success of any of the National teams except Super Eagles with no CAF Nation cup to show for your efforts. It is a big shame. My advice is for the Minister to seriously get to serious talk with Mr. Mervin Pinnick and for the latter (Mr. Pinnick) to sit with your other members of his cabinets and re-strategies to improve the domestic league and select coaches of under-age teams on time and based on sincerity and quality.
