CAF Champions League: Babatunde expects Wydad to dethrone Esperance

Ahead of the second leg of the 2019 CAF Champions League final between Wydad Casablanca of Morocco and defending champions, Esperance – Nigeria forward, Michael Babatunde believes his Moroccan side can still turn the tie around, Sports247 report.

The first leg in Rabat ended in a 1-1 draw, however, Babatunde feels the hosts are beatable when both sides meet on Friday at the Tunis suburb of Rades to decide who wins the competition.

“We can turn things around in Tunisia and we are ready to continue the fight for the trophy,” Babatunde stated.

“It was unfortunate that we conceded a goal as well as to see our captain sent off, but in other ways, we were lucky to come back to the driving seat, so I believe we can beat them at home and that’s the dream.”

He added: “Of course we could say they have the advantage of away goal but football has gone beyond that mathematics, we are going to Tunisia to win, to lift the trophy and come back to Morocco with the cup.

“Despite the red card, we played to the last minutes of the encounter and we are going to repeat that fighting spirit in their own stadium. We have moved on from the 1-1 draw, we want to start afresh and be at advantage in Tunisia, we are motivated to restore back our winning spirit.”

The winner of the elite African competition takes home $2.5 million and get a chance to represent the continent in the FIFA Club World Cup.
